Popped in to the Power of Making exhibition at the V&A briefly today, they have some excellent things and will go back to look in more detail -it was really packed as it only opened today! Have been working at the British library today, as I walked in I noticed an inspirational quote from Anita Roddick on the wall, 'To succeed you have to believe in something with such a passion that it becomes a reality.' With that in mind, I got on with some new design work...

Rainbow Haze

I'm in Wales for the bank holiday weekend and glad the sun has come out after yesterday's rain and waking up to dreary grey skies.

The beginning of something new!

Here's one of the prints I've been working on today, inspired by cinematic glamour and times gone by. I think it's a little bit William Morris, a little bit 70's wallpaper with just a hint of aztec geometric. Sorry for the long wait since the last post, my new aim is to blog everyday, so hopefully you'll hear from me tomorrow!

Inca inspired

I was just thinking how bored I am of wearing the same, dull clothes- dressing to be warm rather than making a style statement. I love South American traditional textiles- the colours and patterns are amazing. I also really like granny/fair isle knits. Combining both would result in ultimate warmth, but I hadn't thought of a way of pulling it off. Then I saw this amazing photo of a girl in Seoul wearing an amazing mix and looking cool as well as warm...

Manchester Visual Diary

Thank you Manchester for a most excellent long weekend. Highlights included; Trafford Centre (for it's sheer scale and vastness), the curry mile (for it's bright neon lights and tasty food), my first sheesha experience (mmmm...strawberry and watermelon smokiness), the town centre (including a magnificent waterstones), watching the Black Swan (which literally gave me chills) and MOSI, Museum of Science and Industry- watched a demonstration of all the cotton-yarn making-weaving processes (a must for textile geeks!).
